Suzuki announces national oil partnership with Castrol Professional

Suzuki GB has announced the launch of a national oil partnership with Castrol Professional. Launched on July 1, Suzuki now exclusively recommend Castrol Professional lubricants to its customers throughout the UK, highlighting improvements in fuel economy, emissions and engine performance.

The recommendation for Castrol Professional’s range of engine oils, which is available exclusively across Suzuki’s 147 franchised dealerships, will also see Suzuki producing a new range of co-branded point of sale materials to highlight the recommendation.



According to a YouGov Omnibus survey conducted in March 2011, of motorists visiting franchised workshops, 60 per cent consider their car manufacturer’s recommendation as one of their first criteria when it comes to selecting a brand of oil.

“Suzuki is committed to helping its dealers’ in improving the service they deliver to customers,” commented James Richardson, General Manager - Service, Suzuki GB. “Castrol Professional lubricants are technically advanced and will resonate as a strong brand with our customers”.

Euro NCAP: C4, CR-Z, ix35 & Swift

L'organisme européen basé à Bruxelles vient de faire subir une nouvelle série de test à quatre modèles récemment introduit sur le marché ou prêt à être commercialisé. Au programme: Citroën C4, Honda CR-Z, Hyundai ix35 et Suzuki Swift. Et que des belles notes! Seule la C4 déçoit un peu par sa protection des piétons faible (plus faible même que celle du SUV ix35!).

Pour la rentrée, l'Euro NCAP a testé quatre nouveaux modèles: les C4 (sortie prévue fin de l'année), CR-Z (hybride, déjà disponible), ix35 (déjà disponible) et Swift (commercialisation en septembre). Les résultats sont tous bon, voire très bon.

Commençons tout d'abord par l'Honda CR-Z, tout simplement parce que le crash-test du coupé japonais correspond pour l'organisme de sécurité européen au début d'une longue série de test sur des modèles hybrides et autres véhicules futuristes! Le CR-Z s'est vu décerné de très beaux résultats: 5 étoiles totales avec une protection des adultes évaluée à 93 %, celle des enfants à 80 % et celle des piétons à... 71 %, ce qui reste un score très rarement atteint par la plupart des automobiles vendues actuellement! Le niveau d'aides à la conduite est établit à 86 %.

Suit ensuite la Citroën C4. La compacte redore l'image de la marque française qui nous avait habitué depuis quelques tests à des résultats de sécurité moyen (Nemo, C3 et C3 Picasso). Elle s'octroie 5 étoiles en note globale, avec un joli 97 % en aides à la conduite, 90 % en protection des adultes et 85 % en protection des enfants. Comme sur la plupart de ses concurrentes, elle ne parvient pas à décrocher la moitié des pourcentages au test de protection de piétons (seulement 43 %).

De son coté, le SUV compact de Hyundai, l'ix35, brille aussi par de très bons scores: 5 étoiles en note finale, protection des adultes à 90 % et des enfants à 88 %. Chose surprenante, le SUV fait mieux que la Française, pourtant bien moins massive, avec ses 54 % en protection des piétons! Les aides à la conduites reçoivent une note de 71 %.

Reste pour terminer la nouvelle Swift. La Suzuki est aussi bien positionnée avec ses 5 étoiles en note globale, ses 94 % en protection des adultes, ses 82 % en protection des enfants et ses 62 % en protection des piétons. Les aides à la conduite reçoivent le score de 71 %.

La nouvelle Suzuki Swift garde son look jeune et sympa. Elle reçoit tout de même quelques retouches esthétiques, comme de nouveaux feux, mais la ligne générale reste très semblable à l'actuelle génération. Construite en Hongrie, la Suzuki voit aussi ses dimensions augmenter: + 90 mm en longueur (pour 3 850 mm), + 5 mm en largeur (1 695 mm au total) et + 10 mm en hauteur (soit 1 510 mm). L'empattement est également concerné avec une hausse de 50 mm pour atteindre les 2 430 mm de long.

La nouvelle Swift est proposée
à partir de 109 g de CO2/km.

La nouveauté la plus intéressante de cette nouvelle génération de Swift se trouve néanmoins sous son capot: on y découvre une gamme complètement remodelée. Ainsi, Suzuki offre dorénavant un moteur Diesel dernier cri de 75 ch et dont les émissions de CO2 sont limitées à 109 g/km, ce qui, en Belgique, donnera droit notamment à une prime fédérale de 3 % sur le prix d'achat. En essence, on retrouve un bloc, lui aussi tout neuf, développant 93 ch. Ses émissions polluantes sont par contre plus élevée (116 g/km). Il est dérivé du précédent moteur de 92 ch.

Enfin, notons que la caisse a été allégée et rigidifiée, et que la Swift dispose maintenant de pneus taille basse plus larges.

La commercialisation de cette nouvelle concurrente des Polo, 207, Yaris et Corsa interviendra en novembre prochain.

Suzuki a proposé au préparateur américain Road Race Motorsports d'adapter la Kizashi à sa façon. Autant dire que celui-ci, mordu de transformations sportives en tout genre, n'a évidement pas hésité une seconde. En voici le résultat: la Suzuki Kizashi Turbo avec prés de 290 chevaux sous le capot!

Le préparateur Road Race Motorsports a retravaillé la sage Suzuki Kizashi à sa manière. Le constructeur nippon lui a fait lui-même la demande. Ainsi, sur base de la version GTS proposée en Amérique du Nord, Road Race Motorsports a fait de la berline nippone une vraie sportive! Elle compte désormais un turbocompresseur et un échangeur sur son 4 cylindres. Ce 2,4 litres développe alors prés de 300 ch (294 précisément)!

Dénomé Kizashi Turbo, cette étude dispose de quelques traits spécifiques comme les roues de 19 pouces chaussées de pneus Dunlop ou encore quelques discrets éléments de carrosseries.

Bien évidement, à la question que tout le monde se pose, à savoir sir Suzuki compte reprendre cette Kizashi sportive dans sa gamme, le constructeur n'en a rien dit... En attendant l'arrivée de ce genre de version bodibuldée, la Kizashi devra faire avec ses moteurs bien plus calmes... en tout cas là où elle est présente, car, en Europe, Suzuki tarde à la proposer sur tout ses marché comme en Belgique par exemple.
